I am constantly looking for best dining deals in New York City. This weekend take the train to the East Village to be amazed by the endless number of bars and restaurants. With so many options, it can be difficult to settle on one place. But if you want to save money, 2-for-1 deals are plentiful in this cool neighborhood.
The Library (7 Avenue A) Every day from 5-8 p.m. get your 2-for-1 fix while taking in a movie or reading a good book. Yes, it looks like a library donned with old periodicals and bookshelves. On the back wall they play classic movies every night. If you want to meet interesting people, this is the place. The jukebox plays cool tunes from the 70s, 80s and 90s. Just for fun, they give you cute plastic toys to cash in for your second drink. You’ll be tempted to bring one home, but go for the cool beverage instead. If you’re hungry you can order take out from nearby restaurants.
Ten Degrees Bar (121 St. Marks Place) Enjoy your 2-for-1 specials from 12-8 p.m. daily at Ten Degrees. They offer a casual menu of soups, salads, sandwiches and pastas starting at $8. On Monday nights take advantage of half price bottles of wine as well. It’s smart to call ahead to reserve seating for larger groups and maybe even pre-order appetizers. Because of it’s hip vibe it gets packed for happy hour so get there early to secure your spot. In the nice weather they open the front windows making it the perfect spot for people watching. The cheese selection (3 for $21) is a nice nosh while enjoying your drinks.
Keybar (432 East 13th Street) This extended happy hour includes 4 p.m.-4 a.m. Sunday and Monday, and 4 p.m.-10 p.m Tuesday through Saturday. They give you a drink coupon that you can actually use any day, any time in case you’re not in the mood for a big drink when you visit. Plan your birthday party here and get a free round of shots for your friends. They too allow take out from nearby places if you get hungry. The drinks are strong and the disco ball never stops. Stop by during the week for a completely chill after work crowd.
