It’s hard to stay home on a Sunday during football season. The camaraderie, excitement and dining deals are constantly luring me away from my cozy couch. Grab your friends or just don your team jersey and spend Sunday with like-minded New Yorkers.
Smithfield Hall (138 West 25th Street) Located near Penn Station and Madison Square Garden, Smithfield is a good pick for commuters coming in to watch a game. They are serving $25 buckets of Bud and Bud Light throughout football season. Visit during Sunday Night Football for two-for-one Bud/Bud light cans and two-for-one wings. LED HD TV’s are strategically placed for an unfettered view of your squad no matter where you sit. The seventy foot bar provides ample seating to make new friends and connect with your teams fans. Their contemporary menu offers game day grub as well as Steak Frites ($21) and Chicken and Waffles ($15). Burgers, starting at $14, are perfectly grilled served with hand cut fries with rosemary and roasted garlic aioli. From 5-7 p.m. on weekdays save with $5 Bud/Bud Light and $6 bottles, wine and mixed drinks. On Monday nights, happy hour drink discounts last all night long. Beer deals stay put until 4 p.m. on weekends as well. They run daily specials like $2 tacos on Taco Tuesday and $10.95 burgers on Wednesdays. During all sporting events, choose from $5 beers, $20 domestic pitchers, $25 select pitchers and $40-$50 mini kegs.
The Grayson (16 First Avenue) The Grayson boasts more than forty five HD TV’s so you can be sure to catch every minute of your teams action. They are outfitted with many large tables for the most rabid fan groups. On Game Day they offer Platter Specials for $32.95 with choices including three types of wings, three different sliders or a nachos and tater tots feast. Monday through Friday from 12-7 p.m. take advantage of $5 beer, well drinks and fireball shots, and $6 wine. On weekends from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. sip on $5 Bloody Marys and mimosas and $20 mimosa carafes. Large portions and a plethora of football fare will surely keep all patrons full. On weekends at midnight the scene shifts with a DJ and dance music if you want to kick it up a notch.
Grill On The Hill (1624 Amsterdam Avenue) On Sundays order up $4 domestic bottles, $5 imported bottles and $1 wings all day. During the week from 4-7 p.m. get $2 off drafts and $7 well drinks. Keep an eye out for daily rotating specials such as $5 Wacky Wednesday with $5 appetizers and half priced pitchers, and $1 wings for Monday night football. If you’re ready to chow, try the G.O.T.H. half pound burger with an 80/20 brisket blend, pretzel bun, caramelized onions, cheese and fries ($11.95). If your team isn’t doing well, play a game of darts, pool or beer pong to enjoy this great hang out spot. There are sixteen beers on tap with high-top table seating throughout the bar.
