As the seasons change I like to take the opportunity to explore new restaurants. It’s just as exciting as getting those suede boots out of storage. Try visiting these unusual bars and gently ease into Fall.
Cooper’s Craft and Kitchen (2 locations) Monday to Friday from 4-7 p.m. enjoy $5 craft beers, $6 mixed drinks plus daily specials. Deals include $1 taco nights, $3 beef sliders and burger and beer combos for $14. The 2,200 square feet location in Chelsea is a great pick for large groups during football season. There are twenty four beers on tap and four ciders. It’s easy to sample suds you’ve never tasted. For an affordable meal, order the $13 sandwich, fries and a beer during lunch.
Drop Off Service (211 Avenue A) From 3-8 p.m. daily sip on $3 craft beers as the leaves begin to fall. Additional savings include $3 off wine glasses and $2 off shots. There are twenty six beers on tap mostly from Germany, Britain and Belgium. The location used to be a laundromat (hence the name) which makes for an intimate experience. It’s the kind of place with cool tunes, a rare vibe and chill people. They are even dog friendly. If you need some munchies they serve meat pies and sausage rolls from Tuck Shop.
Mess Hall (2194 Frederick Douglass Blvd.) Mess Hall is a welcoming neighborhood bar that specializes in craft beer and bourbon. From 4-8 p.m. daily take advantage of drinks discounts and additional specials like beer and shot combinations. They offer interesting mixed drinks like the Campfire Manhattan with maple infused bourbon and are looking to add a food menu in the future. The small cozy space would be a nice choice for a first meeting.
