Beginning January 21st through February 9th, New York City Restaurant Week will arrive offering exquisite eats at a fraction of the price. Next week pick some four $$$$ restaurants for lunch ( two-course, $26) or dinner (three-course, $42). Ordinarily considered expense account dining, save big with these three luxurious meals for a song.
Perrine (2 East 61st Street) Located in the iconic Pierre Hotel on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, Perrine delivers high-end cuisine in a modern bright setting. They focus on farm-to-table dishes utilizing seasonal specialties. During Restaurant Week, they are offering additional savings with weekend brunch/lunch for $26 and Sunday dinner for $42. Elections include Catskills Smoked Salmon, Roasted Branzino with white beans and Beef Short Ribs. Their featured cocktail for the two weeks is a Rosemary Old Fashioned made with fine small-batch Kentucky bourbon for $12. They provide $15 select cocktails and $10 Sommelier-selected wines by the glass daily.
Hunt and Fish Club (125 West 44th Street) Hunt is a 9,000 square foot steakhouse with an extremely contemporary decor highlighting pristine steaks and seafood. They pride themselves on inventing creative craft cocktails and a well curated wine list. Treat yourself to lunch or dinner including Sundays for their deal. Enjoy Dorade with red bliss potatoes and pine nuts or the Grilled Hanger Steak with a caramelized onion-mushroom gravy. Keep their slick bar and lounge in mind for after work beverages. For such a sprawling space, the staff is super attentive and the portions are plentiful.
Armani Ristorante/5th Avenue (717 Fifth Avenue) Does it get any more ritzy that 5th Avenue? Visit Armani Restaurant, inside the elegant store of the same name. This restaurant, affiliated with the designer, actually serves great food. Their pasta is rock star and you have several options for Restaurant Week. I like the Pappardelle with wild boar and red wine ragu. They do not offer a lunch option so book your reservation for dinner during the week. You’ll notice the attention to detail given to everything from cocktails to desserts. The unique setting marries vanguard cuisine and Italian tradition for a memorable experience.
