As summer heats up, so do the savings with Summer Restaurant Week through August 16th. Take the time this weekend to pick a few five-star restaurants for a low-down price. Two-course lunches are $26 and three-course dinners are $42.
Le Colonial (149 East 57th Street) Le Colonial offers old world Asian charm in the middle of the bustle of midtown. The upscale decor with louvered wall panels, colorful tile floors and vintage photos of Vietnam are instantly relaxing. For lunch choose the Crispy Spring Rolls and the Alaskan King Salmon with Thai Chili Lime Fish Sauce. Dinner choices include Shrimp Shumai and their signature Black Bass with Glass Noodles in a Sweet Soy Reduction. Try the Orange Blossom Panna Cotta with Mixed Berries for dessert. During the week from 5-7 p.m. save with $9 cocktails and wines and $5 beers. Try the Paper Tiger cocktail with Thai chili infused vodka. The lounge is a nice place to meet for a cocktail and a nibble after work.
Riverpark (450 East 29th Street) Nestled on a unique garden plaza with breathtaking East River views, Riverpark provides New Yorkers with a mini escape. Chef Tom Colicchio’s modern American menus change daily, highlighting seasonal ingredients from their own Riverpark Farm, located just a few feet away from the kitchen. Lunch choices vary from Watermelon Gazpacho to Maple Brook Farm Burratini with a Walnut Granola. Dinner options are plentiful with dozens of choices for appetizers, pastas and meat courses. Consider a fresh Zucca Summer Squash Ravioli, Roasted Skate or Lamb Osso Bucco with Smoked Eggplant. In nice weather, you can visit the Beer Garden for casual menu items like Lobster Rolls and Chicken Tacos. For a quick breakfast or lunch you can also visit Little River for specialty omelettes, sandwiches and salads. If you need a “pick me up”, from 3-4 p.m. coffees and pastries are discounted.

Well know for five-star meals, dining during Restaurant Week presents a significant savings as most entrees usually start around $30. His discounted menus include Chicken Liver Mousse with Cognac, Red Onion Compote and Toasted Sourdough and Housemade Pasta with Cherry Tomatoes and Zucchini. Take a trip to Paris and order the Coq Au Vin Sandwich with Frisee and Crispy Shallots. If you want to splurge, try something from the Charcuterie menu like the House-Made Parisian Ham for $14. Tasting platters start at $29 for a small and $40 for a large.
