Thanksgiving Treats

Holidays will certainly be different this year. Although you can’t be with all your loved ones, you can still enjoy a safe and delicious meal while starting new traditions. Plan to order-in or dine outside at one of New York City’s many restaurants.

The Capital Grille (4 locations) Dine with Capital Grille (dine-in and take-out) and prepare to be delighted by time-honored Thanksgiving dishes with panache. Known for prime meats and fresh seafood, The Grille is offering an abundance of choices on Thursday. Roasted Turkey, Brioche Stuffing, Sam’s Mashed Potatoes, French Green Beans, Cranberry-Pear Chutney, and Pumpkin Cheesecake awaits your belly. Thanksgiving and dinner menus will be served all day, starting at 11 a.m. Adults are $75 per person and children $28. Choices also include a Roasted Beet Salad with Heirloom Greens, Candied Walnuts and Goat Cheese, and the Chef’s Fresh Fish Selection with Parmesan Polenta, Asparagus, and Shiitake Mushrooms. Apple Cobbler with Housemade Vanilla Ice Cream is always an option. Take-out for four to six people is $125.

Fred’s (476 Amsterdam Avenue) $43 per person (take-out only), feast on homemade recipes from Fred’s. Mom may not have cooked it, but Fred’s comes close. Start with Roasted Butternut Squash Soup with Sage or the Harvest Salad of Mixed Greens, Goat Cheese, Roasted Pecans, and Dried Cranberries. Roasted Turkey Breast, Maple Glazed Smoked Ham, or Atlantic Salmon are offered for the main course. Choose two sides including Garlic Mashed Potatoes, Southern Candied Sweet Potatoes, Sauteéd Brussels Sprouts with Applewood Smoked Bacon, and Fred’s Mac and Cheese. For dessert pick from Traditional Apple Pie or Classic Spiced Pumpkin Pie. All meals are served with Country Pear and Sage Stuffing, Orange Cranberry Sauce, Homemade Gravy, and a House Roll.

Lucciola (621 Amsterdam Avenue) If you’d like to celebrate Thanksgiving with a twist, consider Lucciola (dine-in and take-out). This neighborhood Italian bistro is combining Italian tradition with classic favorites. Their prix-fixe menu for Thanksgiving is a lovely splurge for $139 per person. Choices consist of a Radicchio, Pear and Balsamic Salad, Risotto with Porcini Mushrooms and White Truffle, and Truffle Potato Gratin. Entrees like New Zealand Filet Mignon with Porcini Mushrooms and Fresh Truffle and Gnocchi Parmigiano Reggiano with Fresh Burrata and White Truffle will be on the menu. Fear not, you can still order Roasted Turkey and Gravy with all the trimmings. Request a table in their covered outdoor dining area if you want to get out of your tiny apartment.
