These picturesque burgers are grilled to you’re preference every time. No matter how you like your meat, you are guaranteed a succulent flavorful sandwich. The potato bun is also grilled and served with white onion, lettuce, tomato and pickles. For $9.75 your burger hankering will be happily satisfied. The menu is very basic with burgers, grilled cheese, fried chicken, fries and chili. That’s it. Beers start at $5 and include McSorley’s light and dark ales. There is always a line for a table so consider grabbing a seat at the bar for faster service.

If you like barbecue, try Brother Jimmy’s. From 5-7pm Monday-Friday you can enjoy 1/2 price appetizers at the bar and $2-$3 drink specials. On Tuesdays one restaurant deal you can bask in half price appetizers all night long. Definitely order the rib tips and the “frickles”! I am a sweet potato fries fan and these do not disappoint. They also make their own barbecue sauces to add to the experience.

El Cantinero, 86 University Place

Right off Union Square you will find a mexican restaurant and upstairs bar that will keep you coming back. The food is teriffic and the “happy hour” bar specials are amazing.  Upstairs Monday through Friday at 6pm, El Cantinero offers a FREE buffet that includes wings and chicken chimichangas. My favorite restaurant deal is that you get FREE chips and salsa with a drink order. $4 drinks include Frozen and Flaovored Margaritas, Sangria Pina Colodas and well drinks. They also offer 16 beer choices for $4. Stay for dinner and try the Guacamole or the Enchiladas Suizas. Hours for “Happy Hour”: Sunday-Thursday 5pm-Close, Friday 5-8pm and Saturday 5-Midnight

Flex Mussels, 174 East 82nd Street

If you remotely like mussels, run to Flex Mussels tonight. Seriously. With 2 dozen varieties, everyone can find something to like. For $25 from 5:30-7pm daily you can have 2 pots of mussels and 2 orders of fries. There are 3 flavors to choose from and honestly, it’s a ton of food. The sauces are extremely fresh and flavorful. If you don’t have room for 2 pots, try the Thai Mussels. I licked the bowl! Their second location at 154 West 13th Street offers a similar special as well.  From 5:30-6:30 daily they offer unlimited mussels and fries for $20. This is a bar special for bar seating only, please. Enjoy!

George Keeley Fine Ales & Lagers, 485 Amsterdam Avenue

George Keeley’s offers a great pub atmosphere, delicious bar food like sliders and double grilled wings and FREE popcorn to make you thirsty for more! Enjoy bar specials from 4-10pm daily like $3 Coors & Bud drafts and $5 margaritas. They offer 20+ craft beers that are always changing and cask ale. Keeley’s has plenty of HDTV’s for all major sporting events and a computerized account to keep track of your beer selections. They also offer restaurant deals and the burgers with sweet potato fries are heavenly. Drink 100 beers and you can have a plaque on the wall!

Rudy’s Bar and Grilll, 627 9th Avenue

How can you go wrong with a place that offers FREE Hebrew National hot dogs! Rudy’s is a comfortable dive bar with personality. They offer 12 beers on tap and 10 in bottles that range from $3-$5 every day of the year. Rudy’s Red Ale alone is worth the visit! Rudy’s has backyard picnic tables in the nice weather and FREE Wi-Fi. And yes, the hot dogs are FREE all day!

The Mermaid Inn, 570 Amsterdam Avenue

If you like oysters, you don’t want to miss The Mermaid Inns 5-7pm restaurant deal. $1 Oysters & Clams, $3-$6 appetizers like Tuna Tacos & Lobster Sliders and $5-$7 Drink Specials all await you at The Mermaid Inn.  It does get crowded so get there early to take advantage of the deals. The food here is top notch. If you stay for dinner try the Maine Lobster Risotto or the Lobster Sandwich. They are amazing! Just when you thought it couldn’t get any better, you’ll get a FREE Chocolate Pudding for dessert!

The Pony Bar, 637 10th Avenue

The Pony Bar is paradise. They have 20 rotating craft beers on tap as well as 2 cask ales. The selection is always changing and they offer brewery nights throughout the year. Beers are always $6 except from 4:20-5:20 when bar specials prices drop $5. If you get The Pony Bar App, you can rate your beers and win FREE swag. If you’re hungry try the Homemade Potato Chips, the Soft Pretzels and the Turkey & Black Bean Chili. They do have HDTV’s for all sporting events.
